About
Rather than workshops, I like to call these PLAYshops to encourage a curious and playful attitude to learning about our own human functioning, just as we did all those years ago when we first learnt to move. We explore co-ordination, challenge balance for better balance, experiment using trial and error and guide our attention and imagination so that we can function efficiently in whatever we want to do.
PLAYshops take place once a month on a Saturday or Sunday afternoon. They allow for a bit of a deeper dive into a theme, usually with 3 lessons being taught during the course of the PLAYshop with breaks in between during which tea, coffee, fruit and biscuits will be provided. You can meet other people or rest during the breaks. All PLAYshops require you to be able to lie on the floor on your stomach, back and sides.
If anyone has a theme with which they would like to work on, please let me know!
Upcoming PLAYshops
October 18 – 14:00 – 17:15
Tension Release: Shoulders, Neck & Arms
This PLAYshop will explore the shoulder girdle in relation the chest, ribs, sternum, head and neck, and encourage more movement and flexibility into all of these areas. This will improve breathing and create a greater sense of wellbeing, as well as releasing tension from the neck and shoulders.
November 15 – 14:00 – 17:15
Tension Release: Mouth, Jaw & Neck
This PLAYshop will allow you to explore how the lower jaw relates to the rest of the head, the importance of the tongue (an underrated muscle), and how the head connects to the neck and the rest of yourself. This will give you tools to relieve tension within the face, eyes, jaw and neck for yourself, whenever your need it.
December 13 – 14:00 – 17:15
Tension Release: Movement Fun
This PLAYshop will look at some of the cardinal movements you need to use on a daily basis – turning, looking up or down, by exploring co-ordination and timing, enhancing your sensitivity, challenging your balance in a playful, fun way. Your stability, mobility, balance and co-ordination will be more integrated by the end of the day.
